No to carbon tax
Where will the tax money go?
Will it be used to reduce CO2 emissions? Not really, it’s not intended to. The government doesn’t want us to stop burning fossil fuels, and knows we can’t, that’s why they’re increasing oil production and offering “incentives” to switch your heating to natural gas.
What about for “wealth redistribution” that our PM keeps citing. Is adding a new tax, quoted as being one of the largest cascading taxes ever to be imposed on the Canadian population, going to help the poor and lower income? No, taxing us more is going to maim the poor and increase the amount of the population that are. Think about those that will be forced to choose between eating and heating because of the extra tax on their gas bill, given to the wealthy for a break on their new electric car so they only bring out their SUV when needed.
The carbon tax “given back to the people”, is only directed to the wealthy and extra privileged. Only those wealthy enough to absorb the cost can get the incentives to do so. This tax money will be directed by the government for their own political and personal benefit, not given back to help the average Canadian.
Before everyone should be taxed to “save the environment” the money should be guaranteed to be used only for that purpose and the last organization I would trust to properly administer that would be the government.
