In the year of 2017 there was a lot of discrimination, equality problems, and protests against women and their rights. I am a student from John Black public school and I am writing to address problems against women and how we could start to solve them. To start it all off women’s rights have been overlooked since 1920. They started a “rights movement” in 1848 to 1920. Why did it take so long to get people to listen you may ask? Well, we’re living in a world where males are higher ranked and respected, females were told to work harder if they wanted to be heard, and the worst part is some people are still not listening. If you have been to America in the last month you would know about the women’s march, we are still unheard when we are needed. You don’t see men marching the streets in protest about their rights do you? Some men have just been given everything without lifting a single finger. No, I’m not saying that men don’t work for their pay, I am saying that women need to work harder so they could go to school, get a job, and then have a family without interfering with poverty. We need to empower the people in our life who gave us our life. If we empowered girls from day one maybe we wouldn’t be as scared to share our thoughts and feeling about different topics. If we stand as one we could change the world.
