Hi there, may you print this letter for this coming week?

As you probably know, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down the Assisted Suicide law last year. What has happened to our country? What Canada needs is better palliative care, not assisted suicide! Canada is better than that! Parliament needs use the notwithstanding clause to overrule the Supreme Court’s decision. It is Parliament’s job to change laws, not the Supreme Court’s. Please contact your MP and ask him/her to fight for a Canada that protects their vulnerable citizens, not encourages them to kill themselves. We spend tons of money and have many campaigns trying to encourage people to not commit suicide, yet are now pushing for assisted suicide. How does that work? In Oregon, the number of assisted suicides rose by 450% from 1998-2013. 79% of the time, doctors were absent; the patients were on their own in the end. The major reasons people accessed assisted suicide was because of loss of autonomy, life wasn’t enjoyable, or because of loss of dignity – not because of pain. These people need care and love, not given the option to have themselves killed. Making something legal, does not make it ok. Killing is killing – it’s as simple as that. Join us on March 31st for a peaceful protest. 10am-11am in front of Michael Chong’s office and from 11am-12pm in front of Ted Arnott’s office.
