Katherine Wheatley performs as part of Basement Cafe series

The Minto Arts Council welcomes back award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter icon Katherine Wheatley.

Her vocals, melodies and guitar playing are a hit with audiences, who readily connect to Wheatley’s music, organizers state.

Like Shawn Colvin, Edie Brickell and Joni Mitchell, she mines heartache and produces lyrical and melodic gold.

Wheatley has written music for film and television documentaries. In addition to touring across Canada, the U.S. and Europe as a solo singer/songwriter, Wheatley is a member of the Toronto super group Betty and The Bobs.

Singer/songwriters, The MacQueens, will be opening for Wheatley. This husband-and-wife duo released its debut EP, The Pearl, in February. Armed with acoustic guitars, a ukulele, mandolin, assorted other noise makers and great songs, they have their roots in folk, country, bluegrass with a touch of gypsy music.

The show will take place in the basement of the Harriston library on May 14 at 8pm.

Advance tickets are $20 (including unlimited tea/coffee), available at Harriston Home Hardware or by calling 519-338-2497. For information email info@mintoartscouncil.ca.
