Humane Society has cat for adoption

Ruby sparkles with her happy personality.

The black spayed female came to the shelter with her sister, Sunny, on Feb.10 under the category of stray. They had been living under a deck of an old house that was condemned and to be demolished. They were surrendered to the shelter by a citizen.

Ruby and Sunny are identical, approximately one year old. The only way to tell them apart was Ruby had an injury – her right front paw was diagnosed with permanent nerve damage. Vets determined removal of her front leg was the most humane way to go. Ruby had no feeling in certain parts of her leg and it would drag, which, in the long term, could mean further complications and injury.

The surgery cost our $550 (through Troopers fund). Ruby has made remarkable improvement and seems oblivious of her three legged status. She now needs someone  to take her home.

Ruby should go to a home where there are no stairs – an apartment or a bungalow would be ideal. However, she is agile, and can move quickly and seems not to have a care in the world. Adult only, semi retired, or retired families would be of special interest or families with older children will be considered.

To give her maximum exposure she is residing at the Upper Credit Humane Society Thrift Shop in Georgetown. Should anyone consider adopting her sister as well, Sunny is residing at the shelter but single adoptions in both cases are also fine.

Ruby is waiting at the Thrift Shop (call 905-702-8661to meet her). For adoption, call the shelter at 519-833-2287.

Through donations to the Troopers Fund officials were able to give Ruby a chance at a good life. Anyone wishing to donate to help pay for Ruby’s surgery or help future special needs animals, donations are be gratefully accepted. Specify it is for Ruby or Troopers Fund.
