Holding zone removed to allow next phase of South Ridge development

It looks like the south end of Elora will be growing a bit more in the near future, as Centre Wellington council agreed to allow the next phase of the South Ridge subdivision to proceed.

On Jan. 28, councillors here agreed to remove the holding zone on the section known as phase 2, which planner Brett Salmon said represents its preliminary acceptance.

He said proponents have been working to service this section of the subdivision and requested preliminary acceptance.

Salmon estimated there are between 50 and 60 homes in this phase of the subdivision, which overall includes about 220 homes.

The first phase consisted of 110 homes, and this phase represents about half of the homes remaining in the proposal.

Shortly thereafter, Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj commented briefly on Salmon’s report with an outline of the current developments in Centre Wellington along with numbers on the project number of homes.

Salmon said such reports are updated annually and will be working on the report which will provide an idea of what developments are underway and projected.

The current update, with maps, will report on information to the end of 2012.
