Healthcare Heroes Radiothon returns Oct. 19

MOUNT FOREST – The 18th Annual CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon returns to the airwaves on CKNX AM920 and cknx.ca on Oct. 19 to raise funds for ten local hospital foundations.

Locally, Mount Forest’s Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation aims to raise $100,000 towards a portable x-ray machine.

The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation is trying to raise $100,000 to update the hospital’s security system.

On Oct. 19, those interested can phone-in pledges during the live broadcast by calling toll free 1-877-227-3486, from 9am to 4pm or  text HERO Louise Marshall to 41010 to donate $10 until the end of October.

Tune into the broadcast all day on AM920 and cknx.ca, or catch hourly updates on 101.7 The One and 94.5 Classic Rock.

“Listeners will hear heartwarming patient stories and descriptions of the medical equipment needed at each participating hospital,” officials state.

“As well, they will be treated to one-of-a-kind musical performances, giving local talent an opportunity to show their support of our hospitals.”

At Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134 on King Street in Mount Forest, the Foundation is holding its second annual Radiothon Fun Progressive Euchre Tournament. Lunch is at 11:30am and the tournament is at 12:45pm. The event includes door prizes and a 50/50 draw.

Advance tickets are available at the Foundation office at Louise Marshall Hospital until Oct. 17 for $12.50 (includes meal and tournament). Separate charges will apply at the door on Oct. 19.

Walk-in donations will be accepted at the Legion during the tournament, or donors may deliver gifts to volunteers at Birmingham Retirement Community from 10am  to 2pm on Oct. 19.
