Harriston residents receive volunteer awards

At the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards Ceremony in Stratford on March 19, Harriston resident Diane Ireland-Kelly was presented with a certificate and lapel pin in honor of her 15 years of dedicated service to her community.

Ireland-Kelly was nominated by the Horticultural Society for her efforts towards area beautification projects.

She served terms as president and vice-president of the society, while continuing to lead the Civic Beautification Committee in Harriston.

She was also the initiator of many unique arrangements in cement planters and bridge boxes around the town.

Youth programs have also benefited from Ireland-Kelly’s leadership, and currently she works with the library staff on holding horticultural craft sessions for special holidays.  May will feature a small planter of summer annuals for each child’s Mother’s Day surprise.

Also recognized was Beverly Manser of Harriston, for her 10 years of service to the Girl Guides of Canada Ontario Council.
