Guelph man arrested after soliciting with a knife

GUELPH – On July 13 just after 8am, a man was approaching motor vehicles lined up in the drive-thru of a business near the intersection of Victoria Road South and York Road in the City of Guelph.

“He was soliciting money from drivers while holding a knife out in front of his body,” states a Guelph Police press release.

At 8:22am, police located the male inside the business, and he was subsequently arrested. Further investigation revealed he was banned from the business in 2020.

Police say a search of the man revealed two knives, a pellet gun and hatchet.

A 40-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, failing to comply with a probation order, soliciting in an aggressive manner and entering a premise when prohibited.

He was held in custody pending a July 18 bail hearing.
