Group raised $57,444 to fight diabetes

The volunteers at the North Perth-North Wellington Branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) were overwhelmed with this year’s response to the annual appeal campaign.

They raised $57,444.36 this year.

The totals in the area include:

– Alma, $595;

– Arthur township $1,884;

– Arthur $3,123;

– Drayton, $4,023;

– Mapleton Township, $8,855;

– Clifford $1,635;

– Harriston $2,891;

– Palmerston $2,262;

– Minto township, $5,038; and

– Moorefield and Maryborough township $3,694.

Organizers found it reassuring that dedicated volunteers would reach out to their neighbours, friends, and businesses on every street or rural road throughout the branch area that runs from Clifford to Alma, and Dundalk to Mitchell. They are thankful for caring supporters who donated.

The Canadian Diabetes Association’s mission is to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while working to find a cure – by providing people with diabetes and healthcare professionals with education and services; by advocating on behalf of people with diabetes; by supporting research; by translating research into practical applications.

Feel free to contact the branch office at 519-338-3181 for more information about diabetes. The office located at 94B Elora Street South in Harriston, and it is open every Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30pm.
