GRCA offers grants to groups, schools

The Grand River Conservation Authority is inviting applications for its Community Conservation Grants program.

Each year, grants worth up to $1,000 are given to qualified community groups (registered charities) for conservation projects in communities throughout the watershed.

In addition, elementary schools can apply for grants of up to $750 for schoolyard naturalization projects.

In the past, many recipients have also applied for grants from other sources to help finance larger projects.

Previous recipients of Community Conservation grants have built river access points, carried out habitat restoration projects or built new trails.

Applicants are asked to note the location of the projects and schools must be within the Grand River watershed. Preference will be given to organizations that have not previously received a grant.

May 31 is the deadline for applications. For more information go to www.grandriver.ca.
