Grateful family gives back to KidsAbility

In April, Jack Hockney celebrated his 80th birthday.

At a recent celebration, he asked that in lieu of personal gifts, donations to KidsAbility would be well received.

Ryder Polsterer, Hockney’s great-grandson, benefits from the services at KidsAbility’s Fergus location. Ryder’s mother, Amanda, credits the organization for the immense milestones Ryder has reached.

“I am thankful for KidsAbility. Without their help, I don’t think Ryder would have been walking until he was at least2,” Amanda said.

Now almost three years of age, Ryder is very active, inquisitive and happy to play with his siblings and friends.  He receives occupational therapy and physiotherapy at KidsAbility and receives other medical related services in his community to help him with his physical and developmental delays.

Shortly after Ryder was born, Amanda noticed there was something “not quite right” with his development.

“He wasn’t able to hold his head up and he wasn’t tracking items like other kids,” she said.

Amanda consulted his pediatrician, who referred Ryder to KidsAbility when he was just five months old.

After hearing about KidsAbility and the help they have provided and continue to provide to his great grandson, Hockney decided to help the local children’s treatment centre in honour of his 80th birthday.

“I like to support children’s charities and this one is close to home and is so helpful to my family,” Hockney said.
