Good Brothers return to Rockwood for benefit

The good times will roll in Rockwood once again, as the Good Brothers return for the Rockwood Lions and Lioness’ ninth annual benefit and dinner dance on May 7.

The event will be held at the Rockmosa Community Centre in support of area residents participating in the One Walk to Conquer Cancer.  The Sept. 10 event is a 25km walk through Toronto to support the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Rockwood Lioness Doris Ens said the event originated nine years ago, when she approached the Lions and Lioness clubs about supporting it, because her daughter Colleen was planning to participate in the cancer walk.

The Good Brothers have been performing at the Rockwood event since its inception. Ens said the group was able to get the eight-time Juno award winners to perform through contacts made by her son, Jim Ens, a roadie with the popular band during the 1980s.

Ens said tickets to the event generally sell out very quickly.

“It’s the most popular benefit in Rockwood,” she told the Advertiser.

Tickets for the event, which includes a roast beef dinner, are $35. For tickets or information call 519-856-9419 or 519-856-9650.
