Gallery Concerts open Oct. 23

The opening concert for another season of live music in the Wellington County Museum’s exhibition hall is set for Oct. 23 at 2pm.

The Gallery Concerts are a not-for-profit series organized by the Gallery Music Group to provide affordable afternoons of classical music from October to April.  The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the music presentations interact personally with the audience, reminiscent of the intimacy of a salon.

The season begins with the Grand River Brass, a group which has been entertaining people for over 30 years.  Formed in 1981, this brass quintet plays a variety of music: classics, jazz, contemporary, traditional.  They will celebrate Oktoberfest at the Wellington County Museum.

The group have tapped into a collection of new pieces and arrangements of traditional German songs and Oktoberfest pieces by Thomas H. Graf,  combined with arrangements of the music of many famous composers of Germanic heritage.

The concert Oct. 23 will be a trip through four centuries of German music. Tickets, $10, are available at the door. Tickets include entrance to all exhibits at the museum. Youth under 16 are welcome to come for $1.

Refreshments and a chance to meet the musicians is offered after the concert.
