Fusion Bantams on to OMHA finals

The Centre Wellington Fusion Minor Bantam AA team has pulled off a remarkable comeback to move on to the OMHA final series.

The team played a tough hard hitting Caledon team in the semi-finals. The series started in Caledon and the Fusion had a tough first game, losing 3-0.

The boys had a better effort in the second game, sending it to OT tied at 3. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t seal the deal and Caledon came away with a 4-3 victory.

The Fusion boys knew one more victory for Caledon and their season was over, so they came out hungry for the win in game 3. The team controlled the game and won 5-2.

Game 4 was another close contest which made its way to OT. Neither team could finish the job so the game ended in a 2-2 tie. All Caledon needed was a tie to send the Fusion packing, but CW was not going to let that happen.

Game 5 saw OT again but it did not take CW long to find the back of the net winning the game by a score of 3-2. That forced a game 6 back in Fergus.

The Fergus arena was packed and the team had the thrill of their lives playing in front of a huge crowd, said team officials.

The spectators were not disappointed as the game was sensational and tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

For the fourth time in the series overtime was needed to decide the winner. It was the Fusion who prevailed finding the net first and they came away with a 3-2 win and a berth in the OMHA final.

The team will play Barrie to decide the championship. Points in the series went to (goals, assists): Jakson Kirk (8,2), Darren Eby (2,3), Caleb Willmets (1,4), Zac Hatch (2,1), Jack McDonald (3 assists), Jake Ristov (1,1), Trent Collins (1,1), Max Hattle (2 assists), Zac Tofflemire (2 assists), Caleb Cribbin (2 assists), Logan Rayner (1,1), Owen Moyer (1 assist). The Fusion had great goaltending from Christian Linton.
