Former Arthur reeve Clive Williams passes

WATERLOO – Clive Bentley Williams, the last reeve of Arthur Village, passed away peacefully at The Village at University Gates, Waterloo on June 21, at the age of 82.

Williams was publisher of the Arthur Enterprise News and the Harriston Review for many years.

He also served many years as a member of Arthur village council, as a councillor, deputy-reeve and reeve.

He was married to Ruth Williams (nee McConnell) and the father of Ian of Vancouver, Richard and Shawnna of Kitchener and Deborah and Frank Rodin of Sarnia.

He had seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Williams is survived by sisters-in-law Carolyn Readyhough and Beverley Watt and brother-in-law Jerry Dentinger, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home in Waterloo on June 26 and 27. Interment will be held at Greenfield Cemetery in Arthur at a later date.

The family has requested donations be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Alzheimer Society.
