Firefighters spaghetti supper a success

Members of the volunteer firefighters here hosted a spaghetti dinner recently the community hall.

People lined up for spaghetti with lots of sauce, garlic bread and Caesar salad. Cake and cupcakes were on the dessert table to be devoured.

Larry Newton welcomed everyone to the supper and offered residents living in the Minto Fire Department coverage area a new smoke detector. Many accepted the Kidde smoke alarm with hush button that holds a five year warranty.

Firefighters urge everyone to test their smoke alarms regularly and fall into the habit of replacing the batteries when daylight saving time changes in the fall.

The firefighters also collected donations of cash and Canadian Tire money for Camp Bucko, the bnurn camp for Kids of Ontario. It seems almost every week, the firefighters are called to accidents, fires, or people need emergency services.

Currently, there are 21 volunteer and three auxiliary firefighters in Clifford.
