Fire updates

Fire officials suspect a combination of factors the Nov. 16 fire at Vandermarel Trucking here that caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage to the business.

Centre Wellington Fire chief Brad Patton said a combination of the cellulose insulation, wiring and rodents were considered causes of the fire, which started in the attic of the structure. The family business has operated for 24 years and in addition to dozens of drivers, employed 14 people at the Fergus location.

Guelph-Eramosa home

Guelph-Eramosa fire chief John Osborne said the cause of the Nov. 12 fire that destroyed a family’s home southwest of Rockwood remains undetermined.

Mundell Lumber

The cause of the Oct. 31 fire that destroyed an historic mill at Mundell Lumber in Erin is also undetermined at this time.
