Fire destroys barn in Mapleton Township
On Aug. 11, 2015 at approximately 1:20 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with fire services from Drayton, Moorefield, Minto, Palmerston and Milverton responded to a report of a large barn fire located on Wellington Road 10 in Mapleton Township.
Upon arrival, the barn, which housed approximately 100 young cows was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was contained when the barn collapsed. All the cows perished in the fire.
No other injuries reported.
Wellington County Road 10 was closed for a period of time while crews battled the blaze.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
