Fergus wedding show new format has do-it-yourself experience

The fresh new look of The Wedding Show has do-it-yourself (DIY) brides talking.

Brides are talking because The Wedding Show’s new edition offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere to research potential services and ask the right questions. Featuring a sample of the best wedding services available in the community, The Wedding Show is a one-stop wedding shop.

A key highlight of the show’s new format is the special catering showcase. In a café-style environment, guests can sample the dishes and desserts from two caterers free-of-charge upon entry. Preferred caterers in this year’s showcase include Victoria Park East Golf Club’s live action “martini” station, with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Stephen Vaughan and served in martini glasses. Bentley Tea House Catering, of Fergus, will also serve savoury and sweet samples from its menu at The Wedding Show.

Brides looking for the latest gown trends and ideas can view a selection of bridal attire through one of three fashion shows featuring Sweet Trash Vintage Clothier of Elora at 12:30pm, La Crème of Guelph at 1:30pm, and Elegant Affair Bridals of Fergus, at 3pm. Also watch for men’s tuxedos from Broderick’s Apparel for Men of Fergus. Fashions for attendants, mothers of the bride and groom, and other wedding guests will also be featured at the show.

DIY Brides can also expect the opportunity to win prizes from exhibitors, including the chance to win a $1,000 online shopping spree courtesy of TheWeddingRing.ca. Two lucky brides will win a complimentary Bridal Booty Camp registration and a reduced rate for their bridesmaids courtesy of Hush Me Not in Fergus. The show’s exclusive make-up artist, Sarah Giddy, will also grant one winning bride a free bridal make-up package.

More prizes will be awarded, with the grand prize draw following the 3pm fashion show. Brides must be present to win.

DIY Brides should plan to attend on Feb. 28 from 11am to 4pm at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex, 550 Belsyde Avenue East in Fergus. Pre-registration is encouraged at www.ralphbasset.com and click on Events. Brides who pre-register and pre-pay the admission will be entered into an exclusive prize draw.

Admission of $7 is also accepted at the door. All proceeds from the show continue to support the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
