Fergus Target one of three pilot stores opened in Canada

Target officials have announced the new store on the south side of Fergus is now one of the first three Target locations to open in Canada.

The store opened on March 5, along with two other “pilot stores” – one in Milton and the other at the Stone Road Mall in Guelph.

They are the first of 124 Target stores that will open across the country this year.

“This marks the final phase in a testing process, which was designed to prepare systems, train team members and determine operational readiness as the first wave of 24 stores soft open across Ontario later in March,” stated a press release from Target.

The three new pilot stores opened to the public on March 5 at 8am and while hours may fluctuate as the testing process continues, the pilot stores are expected to be open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 9pm on Sundays.

Like the majority of Target locations opening in Canada, the pilot stores feature a Starbucks and in-store pharmacy.

“The Target team is excited to open these test locations as we put the finishing touches on our stores, assortments and inventory,” said Tony Fisher, president of Target Canada.

“We look forward to  … providing an outstanding shopping experience as we approach our grand opening in early April.”
