FCSSGW acquired TorchLight to ensure continuation of services

GUELPH – Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington (FCSSGW) has taken over TeleConnect and Distress Line services from TorchLight as of Jan. 1.

The telephone support services include an inbound distress line and an outbound check-in service.

Officials say the acquisition ensures the continuity of TorchLight services and enhances FCSSGW’s capabilities to provide integrated and seamless services to Guelph-Wellington in dealing with issues of mental health, trauma, addictions, and self-harm.

FCSSGW has staff in place and is currently recruiting more volunteers, and promoting the two support lines that will operate between 8am and 10pm seven days a week.

Volunteers for weekday and weekend mornings are needed. Qualifying volunteers will receive training and support. Anyone interested can contact Colten Ura at 519-824-2431, ext. 26.
