Event raises $128,000 for Children’s Foundation

GUELPH – The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington raised more than $128,000 for core programs at their 14th annual Around the World Gala.

On Oct. 19, the gala traveled to Monaco with an elaborate black tie affair, presented by Bird Elinesky Schuett Private Wealth Management of RBC Dominion Securities.

With martinis, champagne, elegant décor by Volumes of Space, the smooth sounds of the Sam Fitzpatrick Quartet and an after-party casino, the night played out like a scene from a James Bond film.

Through raffles, games, auction items and an impactful Fund-A-Future, guests raised over $80,000 on the night, with a total of over $128,000 for their four core programs raised for the event.

The foundation also acknowledges the Monte Guelph Casino Sponsors, Ceramic Decor and Contract Express Ltd.; Grand Prize Raffle Sponsor, The Co-operators, Darren Scott, Advisor; Raffle Sponsors, Caissa and Guelph Manufacturing Group; OO7 Sponsors, Alliance Roofing, EB Games, KPMG, SV Law and Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel.

“It is a privilege and honour to have these amazing corporate community partners continue to support the Children’s Foundation events and programs,” said Karyn Kirkwood, Interim Executive Director.

“Their support, along with all the guests in attendance, means we can continue to provide valuable opportunities for children and youth to participate, learn and grow,” she said.

The foundation programs – Adopt-A-Family, Food & Friends, Free to Grow and Scholarships – help approximately 23,000 children and youth in Dufferin, Wellington County and Guelph each year.

From filling their bellies with healthy food so they can focus on learning in school, to inspiring hope during the holidays, the community’s support is turning their dreams into reality.
