Erin showcase to promote local businesses

The Town of Erin, East Wellington Chamber of Commerce (EWCC) and the Village of Erin BIA have joined forces to present the Erin Business Showcase on Sept. 26 at the Erin Ag Society facility on Main Street in the Village of Erin.

The collaboration between the Town of Erin, EWCC and the Erin BIA is just one of several efforts being planned to better promote local businesses both within and outside the Town of Erin.

“By working together in common purpose we reduce duplication and bring a greater level of credibility as a collective, than by attempting to work in isolation,” said Bob Cheetham, Erin’s economic development coordinator.

“The Town of Erin is open for business and this showcase will highlight the many great businesses we have in the community and better inform people about what they do and how they contribute to the overall economic sustainability of the community.”

The showcase, entitled “Hey Erin Let’s Do Business,” is hoping to attract 60 to 70 vendors – not only store front businesses, but also industry and cottage industry businesses interested in showcasing products and explaining who they are and what they do.

The showcase is only open to businesses located within the Town of Erin.

“We would like to demonstrate to the residents of Erin just how much our business community has to offer,” said Chris Bailey, chair of the Village of Erin BIA.

Attendance at the showcase, which runs from 10am to 5pm on Sept. 26, is free and open to the public.

David Netherton, president of EWCC, said he views the showcase as a win-win for the town and the business community.

“The collaboration between the town and our business community is critically important as we look at future business retention and attraction in the community,” said Netherton.

“This business showcase will be the business exhibition of the year and booths will be available on a first-come-first -served basis until they are sold out.”

“I am particularly pleased that the town and our business representatives are working in collaboration to promote and market the Town of Erin as open for business,” said Mayor Allan Alls.

“We not only want to bring new business to the community, but equally important, we want to be supportive of those businesses that call the town their home.”

Any business in the Town of Erin interested in being a part of the Sept. 26 business showcase can contact Elsie Miller at the EWCC at 519-217-1630 for details on booth space and schedule, or visit the EWCC website at http://www.eastwellingtonchamber.ca/events.
