Erin community radio station relaunches as Mix 88.1

It takes more than a bit of bad weather to keep this crew down.

As most of Midwestern Ontario shuddered in the midst of  the effect of last week’s ice storm, Erin Community Radio Inc. celebrated the official launch of Mix 88.1 at its new studio located at 8 Thompson Crescent in Erin.

Along with local dignitaries, the station held an open house, official ribbon cutting and cake.

Larry Peters, president of the board for Mix 88.1 noted the relaunch has meant a change in format, which has attracted more listeners.

He hopes the additional revenue will keep the station strong and healthy.

He said part of the issue in the beginning is that there is so much work and cost to get a radio station up and running.

“It would be a shame to see it disappear.”

The revamp also meant a move to 8 Thompson Crescent in Erin as part of the change.

“We recognized that a new facility was due.

“It provides a better public appearance and is wheelchair accessible as well.

“It’s still on the main street … just a bit further up one end,” he said.
