Erin Ag Society inducted into wall of fame

There is a new inductee to Erin’s wall of fame, but in this case, it is a group effort.

On March 20, the Erin Agricultural Society was inducted into the town’s wall of fame.

Mayor Lou Maieron suggested he started his political career first participating with the local agricultural society.

He said instead of putting him in charge of anything to do with animals, he’d asked to be put in charge of the long-defunct art exhibition to revive that. He started with that and moved on into the political field.

Erin’s new town crier Andrew Welch offered a declaration for the night.

Welch enunciated the certificate of recognition to the Erin Agricultural Society recognizing the group’s 162 years of dedication and commitment to Erin by its active involvement, leadership, support and assistance to people.

The members were described “as an enthusiastic group of volunteers whose hard work and leadership make “the Erin Fall Fair the best agri-business tourism event in our area, and the preview to the Royal [Winter Fair].”

Maieron added “In our small way it adds to our efforts in economic development. It’s one of the best fall fairs.”

The mayor later offered members Town of Erin lapel pins.
