After the success of the first Elora Handmade Market last October, Mandy Morrison of reFind Salvage in Elora is bringing back the market for a spring show.
“We’re going to try to do it a couple times a year now,” she said.
Morrison added organizers didn’t know what to expect at last year’s event and were blown away by the amount of people that came.
“The response that we got (was) how the town needed something like this… that was very successful,” she said.
Two-thirds of the vendors are returning and the rest are new to the market.
Morrison explained space was an issue due to the turnout so organizers will move vendors around to get the most out of the space.
Also new this year will be a $2 admission, which will help track attendance and, along with proceeds from the raffle table and bake sale, will go towards the Children’s Foundation of Guelph Wellington’s Food and Friends program.
Last year Morrison said the show raised $3,000 for Centre Wellington High School’s Wake Up Wellington, a Children’s Foundation breakfast program.
Morrison said she is excited for the spring show.
“It’s 100% made by local artisans … there was this amazing vibe, it was just a cool environment to shop in,” she said.
Event date
The Elora Handmade Market spring show will be on May 7 from 10am to 4pm at the Wellington County Museum and Archives heritage barn.
