Elora en Plein Air

The Elora Arts Council is launching Elora en Plein Air: Grand River Painting Festival from May 19 to 22.

“As this is the first year of the arts council is excited to invite artists to this four-day art competition, promoting the local community and enriching our cultural heritage,” states a press release from the council.

Organizers state this festival showcases not only the village of Elora and town of Fergus, but also the surrounding countryside.

During the competition, come rain or shine, artists from the U.S. and Canada will be painting around the communities to capture the charming heritage buildings, historic neighbourhoods, breathtaking river and gorge vistas, rolling hillsides and incredible farms of our uniquely beautiful region.

The competition will culminate in a show and sale of paintings.

This is a juried show with awards to going to the top three paintings as well as a People’s Choice award.
