Elora cookbook author emcees Olympic event for Canadian food

Savour Canada held here on Feb. 11 to showcase Canadian food and chefs was emceed by Anita Stewart, of Elora, author of Anita Stewart’s Canada – The Food, The Recipes, The Stories.

A self-described “culinary activist,” Stewart said publicity generated by the breakfast will highlight Canada’s reputation for a national cuisine built on quality ingredients and imaginative preparation.

“Canadian cuisine is this wonderful blend of ingredients from Canada and all over the world, together with the extraordinary talents of our farmers, our research community and our chefs,” Stewart said. “That’s what we are showcasing with our menu.”

Chef Donna Dooher of Toronto is an author, restaurateur, and host of Food Network’s The Cookworks.

She was one of six top Canadian chefs who prepared a made-in-Canada breakfast for international and Canadian journalists for reporters in Vancouver to cover the Winter Olympics.

The Savour Canada event was designed to take advantage of international interest in the Olympics to showcase Canadian food and cuisine.
