Elora and Salem Horticultural Society”™s plant sale May 16

Come rain or shine, the Elora and Salem Horticultural Society’s plant sale will be held from 8 to 11am on May 16 at the Old Salem School House at the junction of Wellington Roads 7 and 18, across the road from the Esso gas station.

A wide variety of perennials will be available, including native Canadian plants. All the plants are locally grown, coming from the gardens of members and friends of the society meaning they are hardy in the Centre Wellington area.

The annual plant sale is the society’s main fundraiser and the proceeds are used to maintain the public flower beds in Elora and Salem, including the beds at the entry signs to the villages.

The society always welcomes plant donations from area residents. When dividing the perennials in the garden, consider giving the excess to the plant sale.

Highly invasive species, such as goutweed, Himalayan balsam, wild rocket and garlic mustard, cannot be accepted for the sale but otherwise most perennials, tubers and bulbs are acceptable.

For further information on making plant donations, including help with digging them up contact Claude at 519-843-3131.
