ELECTIONS 2010: Town explains mail-in vote procedures

Each of the all candidates’ meetings included demonstrations of the proper method of the mail-in vote being used in the town.

Minto staff member Annilene McRobb noted the ballots will be going out in the mail on Sept. 27 and residents should receive them by Oct. 4

McRobb said one new aspect of this year’s ballot is that it uses a window envelope which will show the address of the town and the stamp.

“This way, you’re not going to forget to put your declaration statement in.”

“If you do not sign your declaration statement, your vote does not count.”

The last date for the voting kits to be mailed in is Oct. 18 for them to arrive at the town office in order to be counted.

After that, McRobb said, the kits can be dropped off at the town office during business hours, or in the after hours slot at the front of the building.

In addition, the ballots can be dropped off at the arena lobbies in town on Oct. 23 from noon until 4pm.

McRobb added if voters have not received their kits by Oct. 3, they should contact the town office, so that one can be mailed to them or for it to be picked up in person.
