ELECTIONS 2010: Fourth candidate to run in crowded mayoral race

An­other Mount Forest resident has entered the race for mayor of Wellington North Township.

Last week, Mount Forest area mortgage broker Ray Tout filed his nomination papers for the top political job. He stated in a press release he has helped many small businesses and people get financing. He also said he understands the unique needs and challenges facing small businesses.

Over the years, Tout served as chairman of the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival, president of the Chamber of Commerce and president of the Lions Club. He was named Mount For­est’s Citizen of the Year in 2009, and was a recipient of the County of Wellington Volun­teer Appreciation award in 2008.

Tout considers himself a civic-minded individual with a proven track record of leadership. He said he is committed to working towards a more united, fiscally responsible and prosperous Well­ington North. 

Tout is married to Donna, and his son Trevor and daughter-in-law Julie have given them a granddaughter, Alexa.

He will launch his campaign at 7:30pm on  April 7 at the Mount Forest Fire Hall.

He is the fourth person to run for mayor in the fall.
