Recent world events haven’t given us much to laugh about, but Dragons’ Den star and renowned author David Chilton will do just that when he takes centre stage at the Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge on June 1st at 8pm.
Over the course of a humorous evening, the reality star and business entrepreneur will share personal stories on overcoming mistakes, believing in yourself, and keeping perspective, regardless of your age or stage in life.
Chilton’s association with Drayton Entertainment runs deep. While studying at Wilfrid Laurier University, he formed a business with artistic director Alex Mustakas called Davalex Investments, acting as agents for 60 trust companies.
“As lifelong friends, I have been privileged to cheer on Dave’s professional success,” says Mustakas.
“His business achievements, numerous accolades, and lasting impression on both the financial planning and publishing industries in Canada are a great source of pride for Waterloo Region.”
Raised in Kitchener, Chilton took the country by storm in 1989 with his fresh and creative perspective on personal finance in his self-published book The Wealthy Barber, which has become the best-selling book in Canadian publishing history. In 2012, Chilton replaced Robert Herjavec on the CBC hit TV series, Dragons’ Den, where he translated his savvy financial expertise into many different investments (2015 marks his last season as a “Dragon”).
“David’s common sense approach to life and tongue”in”cheek delivery are surefire ingredients for a memorable evening of entertainment,” said Mustakas. Chilton will chronicle his life story, from the struggle to launch The Wealthy Barber and his venture in the culinary arts with the Looneyspoons series of cookbooks, to his acclaimed follow”up book The Wealthy Barber Returns and his recently concluded stint on Dragons’ Den.
Tickets for An Evening with David Chilton are $50 and include copies of his book, The Wealthy Barber Returns and The Looneyspoons Collection, the celebrated cookbook by Food Network stars Janet and Greta Podleski. Tickets are exclusively available for purchase in person at the 16 branches of Scotiabank in Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo. As part of a unique partnership, tickets purchased through any branch will be matched dollar for dollar by Scotiabank, doubling support for this Drayton Entertainment fundraiser. Proceeds are allocated to the theatre’s charitable programs.
