CWL honours members for service

The St. Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League celebrated its annual membership pin presentation recently.

The members are awarded a pin for their years of dedication and service to the league. This year, many of the past presidents were able to attend the event, including Gwen Sytsma, Reona Rogers, Mary Epoch, Marlene Buczek, Shirley Strifler, Cathy Goetz, Terri Wellstead and Jennifer Bielby.

Membership pins were given to new members Geneva Gillespie, Angela Klein, Ethel Saunders and Terry Smydo.

The 10 year pin recipients are Bernadette Cullen, Ann Jacques, Shirley Quick, Beverly Rock, Audrey Vollick and Rilla Wheatley.

Gail Brown and Cecile Martin received their 40 year pins.

Anne Evans, Ada Morton and Joan Pollock were presented with their 50 year pins.

Jean Martin received a pin for her 60 years in the league.

Pearl Cushing was presented with a pin for her 75 years as a member.

The recipients of the  Maple Leaf service award were Mary Doyle and Anne Evans

That award is given to members who have served the league in an exceptional manner. The Catholic Women’s League membership pins were presented by Father Ian Duffy, Shari Guinta (Ontario CWL past president), Rosanne Sogan (Hamilton Diocesan CWL president) and Joyce Cotter (St. Joseph CWL president). A reception followed the event in the church hall.
