COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations continue to drop in region

WELLINGTON COUNTY – There are 88 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 throughout the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) region as of June 15, down from 98 a week ago.

As of June 15, there are 20 known active cases in Wellington County (up from 14 on June 8), 18 in Dufferin County (up from 17), and 48 in Guelph (down from 63).

Hospitalizations

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 across the WDGPH region has not been updated since May 31, when it was five (none in an ICU).

That is down significantly from 17 persons on May 12 and nine on May 29. 

Vaccinations

Across the WDGPH region, as of June 15, there are 157,553 people (59.5% of those 12 and older) who have received three vaccine doses, 258,061 people (88.8% of those five and older) who have received two doses and 7,531 have received a single dose.

At the county level, as of June 15, there are 50,285 people in Wellington (60.4% of those 12 and older) who have received three vaccine doses, 80,170 people (87.4% of those five and older) who have received two doses, and 2,107 received a single dose.

Deaths

There have been no new deaths reported in a few weeks.

To date a total of 162 deaths across the WDGPH region have been attributed to COVID-19.

Outbreaks

No outbreaks of COVID-19 were reported by WDGPH in long-term care or retirement homes as of June 9.
