County projects get Trillium funding

Two  local playgrounds will benefit from two separate funding announcements made within the last few weeks.

On Monday the Student Council Association at Maryborough Public School in Moorefield was awarded $7,000 through Farm Credit Canada’s (FCC) AgriSpirit Fund to purchase playground equipment at the school.

And on Nov. 30 it was announced Mapleton Township will receive $50,500 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to be put towards the cost of replacing equipment at ABC Park.

Other projects within Wellington County to receive funding under this round of Trillium grants include:

– Erin Community Radio, $29,000 over one year for a marketing and business plan to assist with the expansion of its broadcast area;

– Habitat for Humanity Wellington County, $77,000 over three years to increase resources, build organizational capacity and to provide affordable home ownership for 18 to 24 families;

– KidsAbility  Centre for Child Development, $142,200 over three years to increase baby literacy with education resources, and improve knowledge, training and awareness of literacy needs with parents and community agencies in the Waterloo area; and

– Mount Forest Curling Club, $52,300 over one year to insulate the ceiling, reducing energy consumption and improving ice conditions for the curling club.
