County featured in national business journal

The county has been featured in this month’s issue of  Canadian Business Journal in an article titled “Wellington County – Rural in Nature.”

The story focuses largely on the equine industry in the county and the impact government decisions to end Slots at Racetrack  funding are having on those who make their livelihood from horse racing. It also mentioned the recent announcement by Premiere Kathleen Wynne that her government is committed to a sustainable horse racing industry.

“Wellington County is encouraged by this transitional funding agreement,” county communications manager Andrea Ravensdale says in the article.

The recent economic development strategic plan, approved by county council, is also part of the article.

“We have an excellent quality of place; from conservation parks with cliffs and waterfalls to charming downtowns and rural escapes,” economic development officer Jana Reichert says in the article.
