A town councillor here wants a seasonal yard waste drop off station in Erin because getting to the Belwood waste facility can be a “challenge.”
Councillor Matt Sammut raised a motion on July 11 asking the mayor to send a letter to Wellington County and its Solid Waste Services to look into a yard waste station during spring and fall.
“If you look it’s an hour turn around drive for most residents to get to Belwood,” said Sammut.
“I would be nice during leaf season and spring clean-up season to have a location locally … I think the cost would be minimal and I think the service to our community would be exceptional.”
Mayor Allan Alls said there could be complications with installing a temporary waste station.
“I know some of the problem is where do we put it … and control of what gets dropped there,” he said.
Council approved the motion unanimously.
