Council declares Feb. 11 Hayden Foulon Day in Wellington North

Wellington North council  has declared Feb. 11 Hayden Foulon Day.

Foulon, the four-year-old daughter of Jon and Lindsay Foulon of Mount Forest, is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

First diagnosed when she was two, Hayden was given a clean bill of health in the spring of 2016, but relapsed in October.

Her family and friends are hosting a fun day at the Mount Forest District Sports Complex to help raise money for the family.

“In advance of that special day, council has been asked to proclaim Feb. 11, 2017 to be Hayden Foulon Day in Wellington North,” said Mayor Andy Lennox at the Jan. 9 council meeting.

The resolution passed unanimously (councillor Steve McCabe was absent).

“On behalf of Hayden’s family, thank you,” said Michelle Matheson, a Hearts for Hayden committee member at the meeting. “It really means a lot to them.”

On Feb. 11 from 10am to 1pm, there will be a meet and greet with Paw Patrol characters Sky, Chase and Marshall. Face painting, photo opportunities and other activities are planned. Admission is by donation.

A hot dog lunch including refreshments and chips will be available for $4.

Later in the day, there will be a “Hearts for Hayden” Valentine’s Day dance. From 8pm to 1am attendees can enjoy music by DJ Steve Leask as well as a silent and live auction and a photo booth. There will also be roses for purchase. Tickets are $20 each or $35 per couple and can be obtained from the Hearts for Hayden committee.
