Council approves backhoe purchase for $122,075

The municipality will spend $122,075 to replace a 2007 backhoe.

At the April 25 meeting, the municipality authorized the purchase of a JCB 3CX-14 Super model backhoe from Grimsby-based Advance Equipment. The company’s quoted price was the lowest of four received and factors in a trade-in.

A report from roads foreman Mike McIsaac notes staff did have concerns about parts/service availability.

However, he noted, “This concern has been addressed with the facility in Grimsby, which doubled in size, along with the collaboration between the Waterloo and Harriston joint facilities now servicing these needs.”
