GUELPH – Drop in to this showcase of local farmers offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscriptions this season.
This event is catered towards those who are curious about shopping local and learning about farms in Guelph and Wellington County.
The event will run from 4 to 7pm on Feb. 27, at the Guelph Farmers’ Market (2 Gordon St.) and is free to attend.
Free accessible parking is available behind the market building off of Freshfield Street. The Market Parkade on Wilson Street is $3 or free after 6pm.
What is CSA
CSA is a way to purchase fresh ingredients directly from a farmer by subscribing to a regular box of fresh local produce or farm products.
In today’s grocery landscape, where monopolies drive up prices and limit choice, supporting a CSA program is more important than ever.
By purchasing from a CSA, you invest directly in providing financial stability to local farmers, ensuring fresh, seasonal food while keeping money in the community.
CSAs promote food security, sustainability and transparency – giving people a direct connection to where and how their food is grown.
In an era where “buy local” is more than just a trend, CSAs offer a meaningful way to support a fairer, more resilient local food system.
The following farms are set to join the CSA:
– Backyard Roots and Shoots;
– Cedar Down Farm;
– Corwhin Herbs and Produce;
– Duurzame Farms;
– Green Hart Farms;
– Parker Family Farm;
– Piccolo Farm Organics;
– River Run Farm; and
– Wicked Welly Farm and Apiary.
Guests can pick up a treat from Nelson and Sons Deli and Laza Food and Beverages Inc. during the showcase.
