Commercial vehicle blitz
On June 27, Wellington OPP conducted a joint forces initiative with the Ministry of Transportation Motor Carrier Enforcement section here, focusing on trucking routes surrounding Wellington Road 124, Wellington Road 125 and Trafalgar Road.
During the initiative, officers conducted a total of 20 commercial vehicle inspections resulting in 10 commercial vehicles being taken out of service. A total of nine equipment defect violations, five over-weight violations and six moving violations under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) were laid. The enforcement initiative resulted in a Level 1 Commercial Vehicle Inspection “Out of Service” rate of 47 per cent.
