Charges for ‘major vehicle defects’

FERGUS  – On May 24 at about 2:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a commercial motor vehicle on Glengarry Crescent here.

Police say the officer “observed multiple major defects.

“The truck was carrying several unsecured containers of used oil which were also leaking,” police stated.

“Not only was the vehicle over its registered weight, but the unsecured containers also posed a huge safety risk to the motoring public. “

A 44-year-old resident of Stratford was charged with insecure load, failing to ensure daily inspection is conducted, improper tires, and improper license.

The license plates were seized and the vehicle was taken out of service.
