Centre Wellington Fusion Pee Wee “˜AA”™ team takes international stage

The Centre Wellington Fusion Pee Wee ‘AA’ team traveled to the International Silver Stick Tournament here from Jan. 22 to 25 and played against many of the top teams in North America.

The Fusion opened the tournament against the Port Huron Flags and came away with an 8-2 win.

The team then met Yale Youth Hockey and again came out on top with an 8-2 win.

Next up were the Steel City Renegades, who defeated the Fusion 4-2.

However, the team had enough points to win its pool and advance to the quarter finals, where it met the Palmyra Black Knights.

Both teams played a tough game but the Fusion fought for the victory and won 2-1.

In the semi-final the team was up against a strong Streetsville Tigers team. It was a battle and neither team would let up. At the end of regulation the score was tied 1-1. It took four overtimes and over 2.5 hours but the Fusion found itself on the losing end of a 2-1 score.

Streetsville went on to win the tournament.

Christian Linton and Tristan Cousineau were “outstanding” in net for the tournament.
