Centre Wellington Food Bank thanks its volunteers

Just as National Volunteer Week was reminding the nation of the many ways volunteer efforts benefit communities, the Centre Wellington Food Bank held a Volunteer Recognition Reception last week to thank those who are indispensable throughout the year and at special events and programs.

For example, various people help on a weekly basis, others at seasonal food drives and almost 200 are involved each year with the Christmas Hamper and Christmas Angel Programs.

This year’s special project is a new client space. The Food Bank’s board of management researched different directions before deciding on a flexible plan to serve both current and future needs. For this, the CW Food Bank is fortunate to have the pro bono talents of Figure3 of Toronto for interior design and James Fryett Architect of Elora.

As is the case with so many Food Bank projects, the hope is that implementing the designers’ concept and details for this exciting new space will draw participation from many businesses, groups and individuals in this generous community with specific donations and sponsorships of materials, equipment and services.
