Centre Wellington Community Foundation offers mini-grant program

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) is launching its fifth mini-grant program with the goal of providing numerous grants of up to $1,000 to various charities working in Centre Wellington.

Since 2012 the foundation has provided 40 grants to local projects and initiatives ranging from $500 to $1,000 each.

“We will be accepting applications for the 2016 mini-grants offered by the foundation starting March 1,” says Kathie Butcher, chair of the CWCF granting committee.

“This year the selection criteria will be based on the outcome from the 2015 Vital Signs report namely: gap between rich and poor, belonging and leadership, arts and culture.”

“The Vital Signs report, which was delivered to all households in Centre Wellington by the Wellington Advertiser in October 2015, will also be used as a tool for further attention and action in helping grow and improve our community.”

The mini-grant program will welcome applications from local registered non-profits that are building community capacity in the granting priority areas of CWCF.

The grants can be used to support operational or project costs.

All mini-grant applicants must be either a registered charity or must partner with an organization that has charitable status.

Full application details can be found at http://cwcfoundation.ca/granting.

Applications are due by April 1 and winners will be announced at a public community gathering and mini-grant award ceremony on May 12 at Aboyne Hall, Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Those interested in applying for a mini-grant, are invited to attend an open information session on March 10 at 7 to 8pm in the mezzanine at the Fergus Sportsplex.

If your organization requires a charitable partner for your application, you are strongly encouraged to attend the session to learn how the Township could potentially be a co-applicant for your project.
