Cats Anonymous seeking donations

EAST GARAFRAXA – Cats Anonymous Rescue and Adoption hasn’t been able to hold regular major fundraisers this past year because of the pandemic, so it has started an online campaign to raise money for the kittens that have come to its care.

The kittens come from the TNR (trap-neuter-return) program for abandoned or free-roaming feral cats.

The organization has started a Kitten Fundraising Campaign through CanadaHelps.

“It appears that cats and kittens don’t know something is going on … they continue to go merrily about their ways, and that means kitten season is upon us,” organizers say.

“Each one of these beautiful little babies who comes into our care will receive the proper medical attention they require and are then placed into our loving foster homes until they are ready for adoption. There, they will learn all about house life, learning to trust and love humans and how to play and flourish.”

No large indoor group events since March 2020  means no “Paws in the Garden” silent auction and luncheon, and that means the organization needs to find another way to raise the $10,000 revenue this event usually generates for the shelter, they say.

On average it costs between $200 to $250 to get one kitten ready for adoption.

This cost covers all medical expenses, food and litter, and any special needs for the sickly kittens.

Cats Anonymous expects approximately 100 kittens to pass through the facility in the course of the year.

That means $20,000 to $25,000 is needed each year to help these kittens. Some costs are covered through adoption fees but that does not cover everything.

“We could sure use your help and support! Please spread the word and donate what you can, so that we can continue to help these little souls in need,” organizers say.
