Caregiver fraud charge

A Fergus woman has been charged with defrauding a person for whom she was a caregiver.

On Jan. 29 Wellington County OPP opened a fraud investigation.

Police say the accused, who had assisted the victim as a personal caregiver since June, accessed the victim’s credit card information and  then made numerous purchases using card.

Jessica Ashley Kelly, 25, of Fergus, was charged with fraud over $5,000, use of a credit card and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She is to appear in Guelph court on March 6.
