Canadian company launches Fergus-Opoly board game

Game billed by Outset Media as 'a fun game celebrating the villages of Elora and Fergus'

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A new Fergus-themed board game based on Monopoly is available for purchase this summer.

Billed by creator Outset Media as “a fun game celebrating the villages of Elora and Fergus,” Fergus-Opoly features landmarks such as the David and Tower Street bridges, Templin Gardens, Confederation Park, the Elora Quarry and the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.

“We are ecstatic that the citizens of Fergus have chosen to welcome us into their homes this summer and include us in weekly game nights with friends and family,” stated Outset Media’s senior VP Jean Paul Teskey in a June 18 press release.

“We look forward to continuing the celebration of Fergus and other local communities across Canada.”

Canadian owned and operated Outset Media has partnered with Walmart Canada to launch Fergus-Opoly.

The limited edition game is available this week at Walmart and online at Walmart.ca.

Outset Media officials say people have been spending more time at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a resurgence in the popularity of board games.

“That means it’s time to bring the celebration to new cities across Canada, so everyone can join in on the fun,” states the press release.
