For those looking for a smaller venue with a big heart, the Orton church and community park should be hub of activity on July 1.
Located on the Erin-East Garafraxa Townline, west of Trafalgar Road and east of Wellington Road 26, the church will host a chicken barbecue, with sittings at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30pm.
Starting at 7:30pm various activities will kick-off at the church, including a bike decorating contest for children, a pet show and dog agility demonstration. Then at dusk the celebration will move over to the community park, just a short walk away, for a fireworks demonstration.
There is an admission fee for the fireworks.
